Games by Piet Hein

Mathematics from playing with blocks and sticks was always part of Piet Hein’s life. He was only 26 years old when he invented his very own game Soma, which is a game consisting of 7 shapes that can be put together to form a cube or a vast number of other figure combinations (see under ‘Soma’ for more detail). To be able to play against oneself and question whether it was possible to build this and/or that model (see ‘Soma’), was something that greatly amused Piet Hein. It was also very amusing for him to observe other people’s ability to do arithmetic in three dimensions and their ability to construct a game such as pyramystery or Soma.

Piet Hein has made the following games:
  • Soma
  • CON-TAC-TIX
  • Pyramystery
  • Polytaire
  • Qrazy Qube
